Carl G. Evers Society Evaluations and Awards

Dr. Carl G. Evers, the first UMMC associate dean for academic affairs in the School of Medicine, was well known for his emphasis on the professional development of medical students. After his untimely death in 1992, a student-run, independent honor society devoted to the improvement of medical school teaching was created in his name. Since 1996, the Evers Society has carried out evaluations of all medical school courses and faculty. Students are elected to the Evers Society by their peers, and the Evers Society administers student course evaluations and honors outstanding faculty with teaching awards.
