2) Review of minutes from April 30, 2007 –(No minutes from brief June 30 meeting)

3)         Report from Chair

• Presentation of objectives for academic year 2007-2008

• Dr. Rockhold provided information on The Office of Faculty Development and the '07-'08 academic year objectives.  These included:
• Monitoring indices of full-time faculty satisfaction with the Medical Center working environment using an on-line faculty climate survey.
• Delivering a year-long Leadership Development Program to promising faculty in the five schools at the Medical Center. 
• Stimulating awareness of contemporary learning issues through sponsorship of a seminar series featuring recognized educational leaders in higher education.  
• Creating an enhanced capability to deliver training to faculty in critical areas of learning practice.
• Continuing to deliver a bi-monthly newsletter to communicate progress in faculty development opportunities.
• Recognizing excellence in health sciences educational delivery by Medical Center faculty. 
• Providing increased opportunities for collaboration among faculty in the research and educational arenas.
• Delivering access to faculty development resources electronically.
• Ensuring that new faculty are aware of faculty development resources at the Medical Center

Dr. Rockhold reviewed the budget issues and office growth. The budget will meet needs and issues of the office. Growth is under discussion.

The July Issue of TRIAD is almost completed- Dr. Rockhold got last piece and will complete and send out.

Dr. Rockhold also reported that the LDP graduated 9 people from the class. A membership roster for the upcoming class was passed out. The deans of the schools made nominations and the nominees were notified. The retreat will be September 7/8.

4)         Sub-Committee Reports

o Dr. Marshall prepared a handout for committee members of the mission and objectives of the strategic planning subcommittee.

o The committee has helped sponsor a handful of workshops recently. There is concern with this committee co-sponsoring single department workshops, while the goal is to serve institution wide. In these cases, it was suggested that the department or school co-sponsoring be allotted 80 % of the attendance and the other 20 % be offered first come-first served, advertised to the rest of the campus.

o Dr. Drummond presented that the New Faculty Orientation website is not organized. It is difficult to find/navigate. It was suggested that there should be a clear "Orientation" link from the homepage. It was discussed that there are some changes being planned for new websites. There will be two separate websites for the new UMMC and UMHC. They are waiting on finalizing a logo. Dr. Drummond will speak with Robert Hester, Chair of the Webpage Committee, about the current concerns and suggestions so that the faculty can access this in some fashion.

5) New Business from floor

New members Dr. Wiltshire and Dr. Konkle-Parker offered to be on the New Faculty Orientation subcommittee and will be working with Dr. Drummond on the web link and other associated issues with new faculty orientation.
